Microneedling helps the skin ... help itself!  It results in rejuvenation of the skins texture, firmness and hydration.  Microneedling is also referred to as collagen induction therapy (CIT) which is a very accurate description of what is happening.  Skin resurfacing is said to have been in existence since ancient times.

Microneedling is becoming more popular as clients look to more cost-effective skin-resurfacing alternatives that don't require much downtime.  With micronneedling the goal is to make micro perforations to stimulate the the body's natural repair system.  Another benefit is it's ability to allow ingredients to more effectively penetrate the skin, where they can affect cells at deeper levels.  Microneedling offers great results in the treatment of melasma.  Since heat aggravates this condition and there is no heat component to microneedling, it's a suitable treatment for repairing skin.  It proves highly valuable in its ability to improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the overall appearance of the skin.

Why microneedling is taking off:

It is an effective means to treat common skin concerns.

It is less expensive than laser skin resurfacing.

There is far less downtime vs. laser skin resurfacing.

Unlike chemical peels, it can be used on any skin type.

Clients have shown positive results after their first treatment and they may return every four to six weeks until the desired goal is achieved.  The effects of microneedling may be boosted with the proper home care before and after the appointment.

Anti-wrinkle/Anti-aging

A wrinkle is a fold, ridge or crease in the skin. Skin wrinkles typically appear as a result of the aging processes resulting in a thinning of the epidermal layers of the skin as they lose the ability to retain moisture. Wrinkling in the skin is caused by habitual facial expressions, aging, sun damage, smoking, poor hydration, and various other factors. Depletion of water in the body, as occurs with dehydration, can also cause this puckering of the skin. The dermal layer of the skin thins and produces less and less collagen over time. Underlying the dermal layer of the skin is the subcutaneous layer which consists of fat cells which shrink with age and become less able to support the upper layers of the skin which make wrinkles even more noticeable.

How can you prevent wrinkles?

Because of the degradation of the skin over time, the required regimen for treatment is a preventative protocol. The Dermapen® promotes a process of new skin growth through the science of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). The most effective way to stimulate or “Induce” new skin is by micro-needling with the Dermapen’s® vertical stamping method. This new stimulation can be done quickly and easily while keeping the epidermis intact and down-time to a minimum.
